The size of the cranial vault is determined by brain growth.

Imaging Findings:
The craniofacial relationship is estimated by comparing the area of
the cranium to that of the face on the lateral view. Normal
craniofacial relationships in a full term newborn is 4:1, in a 3 year
old is 2.5:1, in a 16 year old is 1.5:1.
