Etiology/Pathophysiology:
Infection occurs as the fetus passes through the cervix and vagina at
birth. As well as causing respiratory distress, chlamydia trachomatis
also causes conjunctivitis.
Pathology:
Chlamydia trachomatis is neither a bacteria or a virus, but is rather
an obligate intracellular parasite.
Imaging Findings:
Diffuse perihilar interstitial infiltrates are seen. Effusions may
occur, and consolidation is rare.
