Approach/Discussion:
High resolution chest computed tomography is the modality of choice
for imaging.
Normally, a bronchus is the same diameter as an accompanying vessel. In bronchiectasis, due to irreversible dilation of the airway, the bronchus is larger in diameter than the accompanying vessel. Bronchial wall thickening is also seen, leading to a signet ring appearance.
